Purpose of the Quarter

Quarter 3 is about building our lives more deeply on the foundation of Christ and learning how to strengthen that foundation through the Word of God. Discipleship is not meant to be walked out in isolation; we are built together as the body of Christ.

In this quarter, we’ll explore what it means to build on Christ as our cornerstone, to walk in obedience, to live in fellowship with other believers, and to worship together. We’ll also spend focused time learning how to engage with Scripture, including understanding its origins, the reasons for its trustworthiness, and how to study it for ourselves.

The goal of this quarter is to equip students with both the practices and the tools they need to keep growing, anchored in the Word and strengthened in community.

Class Preparation

  • Weekly Session Review: Continue to review the Teacher Guide for each week’s class. It will provide insight into the lesson and guidance for possible outcomes. Take time to study the lesson thoroughly so you are comfortable with the content. You will still want to be prepared for questions and the after-class discussion time.

  • Prepare Handouts: Print enough copies for each student, plus a few extras. If the lesson includes a worksheet, print those as well.

  • Discussion Questions: You will notice that classes have fewer discussion questions added in. This is intentional. By now, you know your group dynamic very well and should be able to engage the group in discussions during your lesson. As you review the lesson for the week, jot down any questions you think of, or encourage input on the fly.

Final Note

The students will lead the final class of this quarter (before the review). Each student will be assigned a topic to study and prepare as a short teaching to share with the class. This allows them to put into practice what they’ve been learning and to experience the joy of teaching God’s Word to others.
