Session 4: Fellowship
Purpose of the Class
This week’s session is about fellowship. It is a tool to build up our lives in Christ, as well as to build up His church. The goal of this class is to teach what fellowship really is and inspire students to make a positive impact on their church with it. This is a class that should motivate action. If students grasp the message of fellowship, it could begin to transform your church as a whole.
Class Preparation
The discussion questions for this class are: What could fellowship look like in our church? What are the things we can do to incorporate the types of fellowship that we found in the early church in our church?
Ultimately, the discussion should focus on ideas that the group can personally act on, whether as individuals or as a class. However, if someone suggests an idea that could be implemented at a broader church level, don’t be too quick to dismiss it. If it is a good idea, write it down and, if possible, share it with someone who can help make it happen.
However, if that’s not an option, gently guide the conversation back to what they can do directly to cultivate fellowship in their own lives and within their church.
Final Note
If creating church-wide opportunities for fellowship isn’t possible right now, remind the students that they can still make a difference. Even a small group, when being intentional, can shift (or strengthen) the culture of a church. Their commitment to building authentic relationships and showing Christlike love can inspire others and help strengthen the entire church community from the inside out.
