Isaiah 50:7 (NASB) For the Lord God helps me, therefore, I am not disgraced; therefore, I have set my face like flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed.

Have you ever reached a point where disappointment made you wonder if you should keep going?

We know what it's like to serve, pray, and try to follow God's leading, only to face setbacks, rejection, criticism, or outcomes we never expected. It can feel like we should stop trying.

Isaiah 50 describes Jesus' determination in His hardest moments: He "set His face like flint." It's a picture of His unwavering resolve, a heart fully committed to the Father's will, no matter the cost.

Of course, our struggles aren't the same as what Jesus endured, but that doesn't make them insignificant. Disappointment, discouragement, failure, unanswered prayers, and difficult seasons can all tempt us to quit. But, in those times, we can remember the confidence Jesus expressed, "The Lord God helps me."

The God who strengthened Jesus is the same God who strengthens us. He won't abandon us when we need Him. He walks with us and gives us the strength we need to keep going.

Jesus had every reason to be discouraged. He was rejected by the very people He came to save, yet He never gave up. He trusted that the Father's purpose was greater than the suffering He was facing. We can have that same trust:

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NASB) “Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

Paul understood how easy it is to become discouraged when we don't see immediate results. That's why he reminds us:

Be firm. Be immovable. Keep going.

Nothing you do for the Lord is ever wasted. Even when you can't see the fruit, God is still at work. Even when the outcome is different from what you hoped for, He is accomplishing His purposes.

Disappointment may be part of the journey, but it doesn't have to determine the direction of your life. God never promised that following Him would be easy, but He has promised to be with us, to strengthen us, and to help us.

So when disappointment comes, don't give up. Set your face like flint. Keep your eyes on Christ, and stay faithful to what He has called you to do.

Your labor in the Lord is never in vain, and your hope in Him will never disappoint.

-Stay the course, my friend.
